Vibrant Colors Added to TrollerCoaster Track for New DreamWorks Land Coming to Universal Studios Florida in 2024

It’s time for another construction update from the new DreamWorks Land coming soon to Universal Studios Florida. DreamWorks Land is scheduled to open in 2024 and work seems to be picking up lately. The new meet and greet location for Shrek and Donkey doesn’t look too different yet, but vibrant new colors have been added along the coaster track as it continues to get a Trolls retheme. Let’s take a look at the latest changes to this area.

Very few announcements have been made for this new DreamWorks themed section of the park, but concept art shows a Shrek meet and greet and Trolls rollercoaster. At this time, the names are not confirmed, but DreamWorks recently filed trademarks for the names “DreamWorks Land” and “Trollercoaster“. Woody Woodpecker’s Nuthouse Coaster is getting a Trolls retheme, starting with fresh, new paint.

The support beams along the track have been painted a bright green color since our last visit. The connectors between the orange coaster track and green support beams have been painted yellow. These new colors feel a bit more whimsical and we can’t wait to see what additional theming gets added around the coaster.

The yellow, orange, and green color scheme of the Trollercoaster looks a lot different than Woody Woodpecker’s Nuthouse Coaster. The coaster track used to be bright red and the support beams were blue. The new colors really look good here.

At the top of the track, you can see the outermost support beams are still covered with a primer coat. If you look closely, you’ll notice that the white base coat has been applied directly over the original blue paint and even the patches of rust along the top. In contrast to the vibrant colors of track, the evacuation platform and stairs along the side of the track have been painted dark green. This “go away green” type of color almost blends in with the trees in the background, especially at a distance.

There was a lot of activity happening around the construction site today and we noticed someone working on the platform along the coaster track.

Shrek’s swamp is taking shape, too. From what we can see, it looks like the base of the structure is now enclosed. The metal beams and rebar look like the base of a tree stump. These beams will support the concrete as it’s added to create the look of Shrek’s home.

We spotted several crew members working inside the framework of the structure here, too. An opening time frame has not been announced yet for the new DreamWorks Land, but the construction site has been very active every time we’ve checked in for an update.

Woody Woodpecker’s KidZone closed in January of 2023 to make room for the new DreamWorks Land. Back in 2021, A Day in the Park with Barney and Friends closed permanently and would eventually be replaced by the DreamWorks Destination until all of KidZone permanently closed in 2023. Now, this portion of the park will be DreamWorks themed. You can take a final look at KidZone before the closure in our post here. We can’t see everything happening behind the scenes, so we’ll be watching and patiently waiting for more announcements. Shrek’s Swamp is taking over where Fievel’s Playland was and Trolls are taking over the Woody Woodpecker Nuthouse Coaster, but we cannot see much beyond those two structures yet. Be sure to stay tuned to Universal Parks News Today for all the latest construction updates and official announcements.
