The Universal Legacy Store in CityWalk has been undergoing some major changes lately, leading to some epic new rumors. The Legacy Store is a merchandise shop that has given old props new life, with displays, models, and costumes from the past. Now, it seems like this location may go from focusing on the past to looking towards the future. Could an Epic Universe Preview Center be taking over the Universal Legacy Store?

The Universal Legacy Store opened in 2021, taking over the former Universal Studios Store location. Over time, the Universal Legacy Store become somewhat of a museum, housing props from various extinct attractions such as Shrek 4-D, different theme park models, and even Team Member wardrobe. Theme park fans could spend an entire day in this store just looking at all the incredible pieces of history. The Universal Legacy Store was a fantastic was to celebrate over 30 years of memories at the Universal Orlando Resort.

Now, the store has slowly started to change over. Props have been removed over the last few weeks, creating a more generic looking interior. The store is still open, but you’ll notice almost all the major props have been removed. Some of these pieces are truly massive in size and would not be easy to move back and forth. The amount of props removed are definitely signs that something new is coming.

With Universal Orlando’s newest theme park set to open in 2025, it seems appropriate that an Epic Universe Preview Center will open in 2024. This location is a prime spot in CityWalk that most guests will walk by when visiting and does not require a park ticket to experience. It’s unfortunate the Universal Legacy Store is closing, but it’s very exciting to think about an Epic Universe Preview Center.

At this point, Universal Destinations and Experiences has made very few official announcements about Epic Universe, despite the construction and ride testing currently taking place. It would obviously take some time to set up and open the Epic Universe Preview Center, so it may be a few months before we are able to experience it. This would also allow time for more official announcements to be made before opening.
