It’s time to experience the Stranger Things 4 house at Halloween Horror Nights 2023 in Universal Studios Hollywood. It’s been a few years since HHN had a “Stranger Things” house and this one is based on the recent fourth season of the Netflix series.

You’ll need your squad to resist Vecna’s gruesome curse. Like Eleven, now’s your chance to stop him once and for all as you take on the scariest season of Stranger Things yet.

The house takes guests through the Upside Down and Hawkins, Indiana, as they attempt to avoid becoming one of Vecna’s victims. The sets include the Hawkins National Laboratory, the Creel House, and Vecna’s Mind Lair.

The house opens with guests walking up toward Eddie’s trailer. Inside, Chrissy is levitating.

Not only does the house open with Chrissy’s death, but fans will have to deal with watching Eddie Munson succumb to demobats right in front of them.

Though it covers the same story as the Florida version, this house does have some differences. In Florida, Chrissy’s body is already twisted up in the first scene, rather than just levitating. Hollywood also only has one Eddie Scareactor while Florida has three.

This house was good, and better than the previous Season 2 and 3 house. We might even venture to say it was better than the first Stranger Things house, which felt a lot to us like photo-ops you couldn’t actually participate in.

Keeping this house focused on Vecna was a good choice, as it kept the story tight — and for those wondering, yes, “Master of Puppets” and “Running Up That Hill” are both present in the house.

Overall, we thought the sets and costumes were good and the Scareactors were great. Stranger Things 4 is a solid house, but not a contender on our list for the top.

Backstory

“Stranger Things” is no stranger to Halloween Horror Nights. A house based on the first season was featured at HHN 2018, followed by a house based on seasons 2 and 3 in 2019.

The hit Netflix show follows a group of children in the 1980s who become involved in a tangled web of supernatural goings-on. When a portal to another dimension called the Upside Down is opened in their hometown of Hawkins, Indiana, the group becomes involved in a battle for the fate of the world. Facing Dungeons & Dragons-inspired monsters like the Demogorgon, Mindflayer, and Vecna, the stakes are raised with each season.

Season 4 finds the group split between Indiana, California, and Russia, but the house only covers the Indiana story.

The Stranger Things 4 haunted house is near the entrance to Super Nintendo World on the lower lot.
