At the entrance to the Temple of Poseidon, signs for the standby entrance and Universal Express entrance have been removed from the black archway.

Ropes criss-cross the entrance, and a Universal Orlando Resort-branded tarp is across the queue a few yards in.

For reference, here is what the entrance looked like when Poseidon’s Fury reached capacity on Tuesday.

The queue signs were brown and rimmed with a wavey blue-green border. The standby sign displayed the wait time, or “at capacity” yesterday.

The nearby stone sign has also been partially covered with a brown tarp.

The sign matches the ruined temple façade of the attraction, with cracks across it. “Poseidon’s Fury” is in three-dimensional letters below the tarp. The water feature has been turned off.

The fake stone with the attraction’s subtitle, “Escape from the Lost City,” hasn’t been covered.

For reference, here is the sign on the attraction’s final day, with water running over it. It appears someone placed a pink flower on the sign in honor of the attraction’s closure.

The rest of the attraction’s exterior looks about the same as it did before the closure. No construction walls have gone up.

Poseidon’s Fury closed to make way for “new entertainment,” but Universal has not announced any further details.

A Poseidon’s Fury directional sign does still remain nearby in The Lost Continent. It has a bronze trident medallion next to the arrow at the end of the sign.

Poseidon’s Fury History

The infamous but beloved Poseidon’s Fury opened with the rest of Universal’s Islands of Adventure in May 1999. The original version of the walkthrough attraction had ties to Atlantis and saw Poseidon fighting Zeus. Guests were led by an old guide known as The Keeper. This version of Poseidon’s Fury didn’t last long, though.

The updated Poseidon’s Fury had guests exploring the Temple of Poseidon with Taylor, the archaeological assistant to Professor Baxter.

In the first room of the attraction, guests met Taylor, who isn’t sure where Professor Baxter is but began the tour anyway. Taylor explained that the first room was a ceremonial chamber of Poseidon until it was sealed up by his high priest Lord Darkenon, killing everyone inside as a sacrifice to the Dark One. Taylor discovered a spooky inscription and then received a panicked message from Professor Baxter. Before Taylor could evacuate guests, a secret door opened, and the voice of Lord Darkennon beckoned the group inside.

Poseidon’s Fury was the last remaining attraction in The Lost Continent, except for the interactive Mystic Fountain. The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad closed in 2018. Flying Unicorn and Dueling Dragons, in the Merlinwood section of The Lost Continent, became Flight of the Hippogriff and Dragon Challenge when The Wizarding World of Harry Potter took over in 2010. Dragon Challenge eventually closed permanently and was replaced by Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure in 2019.

It’s long been rumored that The Lost Continent could become an extended part of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, or be rethemed to a different IP like Zelda.

Beginning in 2020, Poseidon’s Fury was closed for almost two years. It reopened in May 2022 with a refurbished exterior and effects.

During the closure, the various Taylors and Professor Baxter appeared in The Lost Continent to talk to guests.
