There are two varieties of Max’s Puppy Chow – dark and light. They both taste exactly the same and are listed to have the same ingredients (Chex cereal, rolled in chocolate and dusted with either a small amount or a large amount of powdered sugar), though one does seem more chocolatey than the other.

The powdered sugar variety is lighter and sweeter thanks to the generous portion of confectioners’ sugar that they are dusted in.

Whereas the chocolatey ones are a little bit darker, more chocolate forward, less sweet, and present the Chex cereal flavor a little more.

But as simple as they are, they are supremely satisfying.

The light, crispy crunch is not bogged down by being covered in chocolate. It does feel like a crispy cereal treat including chocolate rather than a chocolate treat including cereal.

We didn’t expect something like this to grab our fancy as much as it did, but they really are enjoyable.

Max’s Snack Cake – $4.99

This is a fairly straightforward chocolate cake with chocolate frosting, and a mix of chocolate and peanut butter chips sprinkled on top.

The cake is incredibly dry, but the abundant frosting makes up for it. It’s thick and super sweet, though somehow it’s not very creamy.

It’s a fairly run of the mill chocolate cake dessert that you would find in many quick service restaurants across property, but that doesn’t make it any less satisfying. It’s nothing spectacular, but it also doesn’t disappoint.

  1. I wonder how many guests are going to try feeding these to their actual pet dogs. Isn’t chocolate bad for canines?
