The biggest party of the year is finally here as Mardi Gras kicks off at Universal Studios Florida from February 5 – April 24. Food booths around the park celebrate international cuisine, including a new, unique booth featuring “Floribbean” (a portmanteau of Florida and Caribbean) dishes. There are two Floribbean booths.

*NEW* Shrimp and Avocado Ceviche – $8.99
Poached shrimp, marinated radish, blood orange sorbet
This interesting combination of ingredients works surprisingly well together! The tangy, pickled radish is a little soft but still crunchy. The poached shrimp has a good texture, if not a ton of flavor. It works really well with the mild sweetness of the blood orange sorbet.
TIP: If you get this dish, make sure to try all the ingredients together in a single bite. They blend to create a delicious flavor.
*NEW* Sweet Corn Johnny Cake – $6.99
Pulled jerk jackfruit, blood orange crema, avocado, yellow mole sauce
This dish was a pleasant surprise. The Johnny cake is dense with a good corn flavor. The jackfruit has a meaty texture with the taste of Caribbean spices. The salsa, avocado, and blood orange cream pull it all together nicely. This unique dish is a great vegetarian festival offering!

New Amsterdam Vodka, guava and lime juice, agave nectar, fresh mint
Holy guava, Batman! This is a nice fruity drink with a strong guava flavor.
A hint of mint and lime gives it a nice zing. This is another decent festival choice!

Both Floribbean booths are located in San Francisco near Lombard’s Seafood and Grille, as indicated by the letter “D” on the map below.
