Supreme Court Blocks COVID-19 Vaccine or Test Mandate for Large Workplaces

The Supreme Court of the United States has blocked the federal government’s mandate for large workplaces to have a COVID-19 vaccine-or-test requirement.

As described in the court’s opinion, this mandate would have applied to roughly 84 million workers at companies with at least 100 employees. It would have required these workers to receive a COVID-19 vaccine or a test each week at their own expense on their own time, and wear a mask each workday.

This would have applied to both Cast Members at Disney Parks and Team Members at Universal parks.

Mandates can still be imposed by individual companies and affected by state legislature. Walt Disney World was requiring most Cast Members to be vaccinated, but this was later paused due to legislation from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

Universal Orlando Resort announced a new vaccination and testing policy for Team Members in response to the federal government’s Emergency Temporary Standard. They have not announced any changes at this time.

  1. Hallelujah! When the whole premise is based on the vaccine stopping the spread in the workplace, and clearly the vaccines do not stop the spread, it kind of destroys the raison d’être.

  2. Shame, folks shouldn’t be allowed to work without a vaccination, big slap in the face to those of us whom are.

  3. No mandate should be allowed at all. It is unconstitutional and all of the founding fathers would be so ashamed of our government now.

  4. Shame on Universal. SCOTUS has blocked the mandate, as they should since it is unconstitutional. For once, I think Disney has Universal beat in this case.
