Orange County Florida Declared COVID-19 Hotspot

Orange County, Florida has been declared a COVID-19 hotspot in the latest White House report.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, “Communities are labeled hotspots if they have “reached a threshold of disease activity considered as being of high burden.” Orange is the only county in the Orlando metropolitan area that has this designation, one of two in Central Florida and one of four in the state.”

13,530 new coronavirus cases were reported by the Florida Department of Health across the state this week.

Orange County’s positivity rate has risen to 2.6%, which is below the 5% threshold previously set by the CDC to determine mask mandates and reopenings.

Both Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort are in Orange County.

  1. Certain people don’t like Florida for being what it is currently. Those same people are resentful that they can no longer blame Florida for the countries covid spread though it’s near or at the bottom of positive cases per 100,000 people. I’m imagining that someone wants Florida to fail in any way to show the public. There is no such failure even in Orange County.

  2. in a recent poll, americans are overwhelmingly over the covid thing. but obviously, certain politicians are unwilling to relingquish the power and control they have had from covid.

  3. the 5% hotspot threshold was not scaring enough people. so the politicians answer? let’s drop the threshold. this is getting so pitiful people.

  4. When are they going to stop being hysterical? We are no longer in March 2020. We have medications and vaccines now. Physicians now have many weapons in their arsenal. The White House wants to keep this going past the mid-terms for mail in voting.

Soooo…if Disney is following the CDC, then why the continued mask mandates??? 2.6 is actually very low considering other areas of the country right now. Smells to me like this is driven by poor CDC guidance and a White House with an overall disdain for Florida.

In addition, case counts mean nothing. They did in early 2020 not now. ICU capacity and deaths are what matters most, which have remained low, but no main stream media outlet reports on that. Education is power.
