Florida Breaks State Record for Daily Positive COVID-19 Cases Again

Florida has broken the record set less than a week ago for daily COVID-19 cases at 46,923.

Florida tops the chart of cases reported in the last 7 days with 206,358 total. The 7-day average is 29,479. It was 21,640 in the midst of the Delta surge in mid-August. The University of Florida predicts Omicron will peak in Florida in February.

There are currently 3,411 COVID-19 hospitalizations in the state, a 181% increase from two weeks ago.

Walt Disney World Resort has not announced any policy changes due to the surge in cases. They did shorten the quarantine period for Cast Members due to new CDC guidelines.

  1. Big deal. Case counts don’t mean jack anymore. Hospitalizations and deaths are the real metrics, which are 2-3 LOWER than with Delta. Nearly everyone who is getting tested is coming back positive. The omicron variant is rampant at this point, there is no stopping it, everyone will get it, which has been likened to a common cold/flu. Time to move on.
