The park released an official statement on its website this week:

As the internal pressure testing of three months is near the end, Universal Beijing Resort announced today that its trial operations will officially start on September 1st. Universal Beijing Resort will proceed with the operational testing and rehearsals on the basis of strict control of daily visitation volume in line with pandemic control requirements. Universal Studios Beijing theme park, Universal CityWalk Beijing and two hotels – The Universal Studios Grand Hotel and NUO Resort Hotel – will be open to invited guests only including selected resort partners and a limited number of winners in official marketing activities.

A series of operational measures will be implemented in accordance with the relevant requirements for the pandemic prevention and control. During trial operations, invited guests will experience selected rides, attractions, shows and dining services throughout the Universal Studios Beijing theme park on designated dates. Based on feedback and comments from invited guests, Universal Beijing Resort will look to adjust operational practices and service details in preparation for the upcoming grand opening.

To ensure the health and safety of every guest and team member during trial operations, Universal Beijing Resort has worked closely with related Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to formulate a detailed plan and enforce the protocol in face of normalized situation of epidemic prevention and control. The resort has adopted a series of initiatives reinforcing the screening, social distancing and sanitization and disinfection across the resort. All the invited guests should comply with related procedure such as pre-registration with ID verification, providing verification of Health Code and temperature checking at the entry point and are required to wear masks and keep social distancing during their visit.

Universal Beijing Resort will closely monitor the developments of the pandemic situation and adjust the trial operations schedule in a timely manner. The identity information of the invited guests will be pre-registered and invited guests must complete ticket and ID verification, and related pandemic control process at the park entrance before entering the park.

Thanks to Twitter user DONGDONG, we now have confirmation that Universal Studios Beijing will finally soft open to Guests. No official grand opening date has been announced as of yet, but reports of early visits and previews of the park and Universal Beijing Resort as a whole have been pouring on to social media this week.

New lands at the park include a dedicated Minion Land (an expansion of the Minion Park concept seen already at Universal Studios Japan) as well as an indoor Kung Fu Panda area.

Transformers: Metrobase was also created especially for Universal Studios Beijing, including a reskinned clone of The Incredible Hulk from Universal’s Islands of Adventure in Orlando.

By far one of the biggest highlights of the new park, however, is the Jurassic World Adventure, which features a chase with a fully practical Indominus Rex animatronic!
