In an email this afternoon, Universal Parks and Resorts Executive Vice President John Sprouls notified all Team Members that they will soon be required to share their vaccination status with the company. This applies to both Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood.

This decision was made in order to “more closely maintain strict adherence to our health and safety protocols,” said Sprouls, likely referring to the difference in mask policies for vaccinated Team Members versus those who are unvaccinated.

In addition, Team Members who are still working from home in select positions had been scheduled to return to their offices by Labor Day. However, this move has now been delayed until October 18.

In a similar vein, The Walt Disney Company recently announced that all non-union employees will be required to be fully vaccinated. HIPAA rules do not apply to either Disney or Universal. While Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has outlawed “vaccine passports” as applied to “patrons or customers,” the law does not apply to employees of private companies.

Details about the disclosure process have not been shared at this time. Team Members were advised to stay tuned for more information coming soon.
