REVIEW: Kickin’ Berry Cocktail for Annual Passholder Appreciation Days is The Worst Drink We’ve Ever Had at Universal Orlando Resort

As part of Annual Passholder Appreciation Days at Universal Orlando Resort, exclusive food and drinks have popped up at various locations. Today, we cruised over to Cabana Bay Beach Resort to try the Kickin’ Berry from Swizzle Lounge.

Kickin’ Berry – $12.99

Huckleberry vodka, Tanteo habanero tequila, blue curacao, mint and soda. Served with rock candy.

This drink is supposed to be available at Universal’s Aventura Hotel also, but they were out of the tequila when we stopped in. We’d never turn down a chance to soak in the midcentury charm of Cabana Bay, so we swung over to Swizzle Lounge to give it a try.

Annual Passholder Appreciation Days gave us our new favorite drink, the Island Tea from Starbucks, so we suppose it’s some kind of cosmic balance that it also gave us the worst drink we’ve ever had.

The bartender warned us this drink was spicy; we love spicy, so we were undeterred. The spiciness isn’t the problem here. Simply put: this was undrinkable. Between the habanero profile and the straight sugar of the blue curacao, there was nothing palatable about this cocktail.

The only redeeming quality this drink had was the rock candy, and you can get that elsewhere much cheaper. Avoid this drink that one reporter called “better suited for Passholder Punishment Days.”
