BREAKING: Universal Orlando Resort No Longer Requiring Guests to Wear Masks Outdoors Starting Tomorrow

Following Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings’ announcement moments ago that masks were no longer required outdoors in the county, Universal Orlando Resort has immediately followed suit and altered their policy to no longer require guests to wear masks outside. The policy will go into effect on Saturday, May 15th.

This news has just come out and very few details have been released as of yet, but the new policy will in fact begin tomorrow. It is expected that guests will still be required to wear face coverings in indoor venues, such as queues, shops, restaurants and more.

Update: Universal Orlando has modified their website to reflect the changes.

The resort has confirmed that masks will still be required at all indoor locations, as well as in attraction queues and while experiencing attractions, even if the queue or attraction is partially or completely outdoors. Three feet of physical distancing will continue to be required, a change which was put into effect only 8 days ago. The full, updated face covering policy is:

  • Face coverings are not mandatory while outdoors.
  • Face coverings are still required in all indoor locations including shops and restaurants.
  • Face coverings are required at all attractions—from the moment the queue begins until the exit of the experience.
  • Guests must still provide their own face covering.
  • Social Distancing between travel parties remains at three feet (1 meter).

We will continue to update this post as more information is released.

  1. Waiting on Disney to follow suit! I’m personally not opposed to wearing a mask (we are allowed to have differing opinions, thank you). However, my 2 year old has not been compliant in the least leading up to our trip next week. For his sake, and of course the heat, I’m hoping we can be mask free outdoors!!

  2. Still not far enough. Even the CDC said mask free indoors was fine for those who are vaccinated. Stop playing to fear and just end it already. Anyone who visits and isn’t yet vaccinated will or will not face their own consequences! No reason why the rest of us should have to put up with it.

  3. Finally a company willing to take a common sense stand! Let’s hope others follow suit and we start a march out of these draconian dark ages ruled by hysteria and mob intimidation pushing radical political agendas “masked” as concern over COVID-19.
