Could this be an actual, physical velociraptor that we’ll encounter along the ride?

Though not visible in this picture, we caught the entrance sign light up the other day.

Much of the coaster is over the Universal’s Islands of Adventure lagoon.

  1. So once again Universal builds a coaster, adds some decorations that have ZERO to do with the actual ride and a call it a day.

Jus the other day I was listening to the Sweep Spot podcast (excellent) and they had on former Imagineer Tim Delaney who spoke about just this thing. Once he left Disney he freelanced including for Universal and he spoke how they always wanted something like Disney, but never had the budget or understanding on how to do it and often ended up with just exactly what we have here.

Uni does get it right sometimes as they did with Hagrid’s coaster, and Disney sometimes gets it wrong as they did with retheming “California Screaming” to “Incredicoaster”. But more often than not the other parks do some akin to putting lipstick on a pig!

    • LOL. There are velociraptors all over the ride and queue, the ride is called Velocicoaster, there’s a preshow and a prelaunch scene both about raptors, there’s onboard sound effects…how exactly do none of those things relate to the rollercoaster’s theme?

This is more detailed than Hulk or Rip Ride Rocket. Maybe not as immersive as Mummy or Hagrid’s or Big Thunder Mountain but it’s a greater level of detail and theme than Slinky Dog Dash, Primeval Whirl, RC Racers or Incredicoaster (which you mentioned)

It’s also better than Disney’s current construction abilities, which is to take 3 to 5 years to build literally anything, and open a maximum of 1 ride a year at their 4 Florida parks.

  2. Is there any information ter regarding the high of the riders and If this attraction is going to have a child swap zone?
