Voodoo Doughnut in CityWalk at the Universal Orlando Resort has recently added a new offering to their menu titled the Charity Doughnut. This heart shaped doughnut features the Universal Orlando Foundation logo and is packed with a lemon orange Bavarian cream. We were eager to try this one, and had high hopes it would be better than the New Year’s Doughnut we reviewed last time. Let’s give it a try.

This yeast shell comes decorated with blue and green icing to create the look of the Earth. Somehow, this doughnut doesn’t quite look like the one from the display case, but taste is more important than looks when it comes to doughnuts.

This sugary sweet treat packs a real punch of flavor. The lemon and orange flavors blend together perfectly for a sweet, slightly tart, taste that is perfect for Florida. The citrus taste reminded us a bit of orange creamsicle or pineapple and was surprisingly delicious.

The shell was fresh and fluffy with plenty of filling and topped with a thick, even layer of vanilla icing. Every flavor here was perfect and we would definitely order this one again.

The Charity Doughnut is $2.50 but no discounts can be applied because the money is donated to charity. We were told the doughnuts benefit the Food Bank of Central Florida, so go ahead and treat yourself to help others. Will you be taking a trip to Voodoo Doughnut in CityWalk to pick up one of these sweet treats?
