REVIEW: New Year’s Donut at Voodoo Doughnut in Universal CityWalk Orlando Is So Bad, It Belongs in 2020

Voodoo Doughnut at Universal CityWalk has a new holiday doughnut in its lineup. We’ve already reviewed the snowman and ornament doughnuts, now we’re trying the special new year doughnut, which is only available through January 3, 2021.

This rectangular fried yeast donut is filled with raspberry white mocha whipped cream, dipped in chocolate icing, and covered with sprinkles as fireworks.

Our doughnut was decorated a little differently than the display version. The splatter-looking fireworks reminded us of vintage Nickelodeon designs… but the days of the Nickelodeon Studios are long gone.

Unfortunately, the doughnut wasn’t as good as we hoped it would be. It was so disappointing, it should have said “2020” on it—we sure won’t be having this donut again in the new year… although we do hope to taste even more great seasonal Voodoo Doughnuts in the months to come.

Overall, it wasn’t terrible, but we regret buying it. Next time, we’ll get another delicious ornament doughnut. If you want to try this 2021 treat for yourself, it’s $3.75 at Voodoo Doughnut.

  1. Why was it disappointing? You didn’t even say what was wrong with it – too much filing? Too much chocolate?
