We saw a nighttime test of Jurassic World VelociCoaster at Universal’s Islands of Adventure a few weeks ago, but Universal is now testing the coaster during the day. We caught a look at one such daytime test on our most recent visit.
During the initial test, the cars actually did not go over the largest hill of the coaster.
Once it reached the peak, the train stalled before rolling back down to its starting position.
After that, though, the train completed two full loops of the track at full speed.
You can see the train turning upside-down to the right side of these images.
The train then emerges from its flip.
The osprey still attempting to build a nest on the coaster wasn’t too pleased by the test.
Watch our video of the full test below.
Jurassic World VelociCoaster remains under construction, with a planned opening date of summer 2021. Some construction walls were recently removed to reveal a velociraptor paddock and a new merchandise kiosk.
Rollback testing is an important part of any coasters safety features, especially a launched coaster. Additionally, tuning the launch of a coaster to hit that sweet spot over the hill is an involved process. I look forward to riding this coaster.
