The holiday season has kicked off at the Universal Orlando Resort with Macy’s balloons, the Holiday Tribute Store, and even a Holiday Treat Trail! We stopped into the TODAY Cafe at Universal Studios Florida to try the new Holiday Wreath Cake as part of the Holiday Treat Trail.

Peppermint frosting and vanilla cake are layered and then decorated with vanilla buttercream, holiday sprinkles, and a decorative candy gingerbread man.

The cake is colored green but it’s your basic vanilla flavor. Our slice was incredibly fresh, with a dense, yet moist, cake serving as the base. The white frosting is peppermint flavored and the red and green icing is vanilla buttercream. Unlike the strong mint flavor in the Snowman Voodoo Doughnut, this peppermint and vanilla balance each other out for a sweet, festive treat.

When we bit into the tiny gingerbread man, we expected it to be a cookie, but it was more like a sugar cube.
