Florida Strike Teams Visiting Major Theme Parks Unannounced to Check on CDC Guideline Adherence

“Strike teams” in Orange County, Florida have been making surprise visits to businesses to ensure they are following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines. Mayor Jerry Demings says the strike teams will be checking on the major theme parks, like Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort very soon.

“So far over 3,600, to be precise 3,620, different business sites have been visited,” Mayor Demings said.

The strike teams have mainly focused on businesses on Goldenrod and Curry Ford Road. They have been going out for two months and have done about 450 follow-up inspections.

Currently, Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort require approved face coverings at all times, except when eating or drinking while stationary. Both resorts are also conducting temperature checks and encouraging social distancing.

  1. I hope that Disney will be more strict about enforcing their mask rules now that they know the strike teams will be visiting to check on adherence to CDC guidelines. Rather than simply asking people politely to put their masks on, just escort them out of the parks. According to vloggers I follow, a polite ask results only in temporary compliance, followed by removing the mask when the cast member is out of sight. Disney’s signs remove any claims that people don’t understand the rules. Disney doesn’t not need to allow the selfish and inconsiderate to ruin the reopening for everyone else, including all the cast members who wish to continue working and those who are awaiting a callback. So far, we haven’t ventured into the parks. Seeing that so many people flaunt the rules makes us reluctant to plan a trip anytime soon.

    • So you’re not even a paying customer and you’re complaining about those who do and dislike being told how to breathe WHILE OUTSIDE. Don’t cry when Disney is out of money because no one wants to go there!

    • I have been to the park 3 times since reopening. Returning for another 3 day visit in December. I found the park the safest place I visit. Crowds are small, tiny by Disney standards. Disney is doing corona extremely well and without incident.

    • Logistically not possible to “just escort them out of the parks.” Disney has bent over backwards with safety protocol, especially with signage, announcement and CM reinforcement of mask compliance.

It’s up to people to do their part. If they don’t want to wear a mask outdoors in FL heat with 3 small kids (like me), then don’t go. If they don’t feel comfortable with others not complying or thinking Disney isn’t doing enough, then don’t go.

In the end, Disney will learn a lesson here, albeit a hard one.

    • Yep! I don’t recommend that anyone go to any of these theme parks while these draconian rules are in place. There is no joy, no magic, just constant reminders of these 1984esque new rules.

      • By all means ignore these “Draconian” rules. The COVID virus also abides by draconian rule. Ignore the least of preventative measure and you may suffer the harsh outcome. As told, nothing is impossible, highly unlikely, but not impossible.

  2. Are these businesses being fined for non-compliance? If so, what law are they breaking? State of FL recently lifted restrictions, including masks, so I’m not sure how this is can be enforced.

    • Very true. The governor lifted all restrictions so like you said what law are they breaking and he also said no fines so how can they fine these business

    • Masks are required here in St. Augustine. Not sure where in FL you live but all I see is compliance. Disney I’d bar far, the safest place I visit here.

    • I hope Disney walks those not complying with Disney’s posted rules. People making the choice to patronize Disney should follow the rules or not go, no one is forcing them to go to the parks.

  3. I sure hope that both Disneyland and Disney world will give their paying customers permission to stop wearing masks and social distance by the end of this winter ❄️🐱 because I know someone who has two daughters and they look like they would make excellent Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique customers and the kind of girls who would like to get a hug from Ariel Snow White and Cinderella 😍🤩🥰💖😊😁😀☺️🤠😸🙂😃🙂❤️💙💜💝 in the Royal Hall 😊😁😀☺️🤠😸🙂😃🙂❤️💙💕💘💗💟❤️💙💜💝.
