It’s the start of a brand new month, which means we get our August UOAP button and magnet. We started our morning at Islands of Adventure in Toon Lagoon, where we picked up the latest Frank the Pug button and Universal Orlando Annual Passholder magnet.

These will go nicely in our collection. The magnet features Universal Studios attractions and is sure to be popular.

We happened to stroll by Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure at the perfect time. It was absolutely silent and posted at a 15-minute wait.

Unfortunately, we made a major mistake not hopping into the line and taking advantage of the situation. We didn’t realize the attraction had been closed all morning, and within minutes, crowds had flooded the area out of nowhere. There is an alert option on the Universal Orlando app to notify you when an attraction opens or when it reaches a certain wait time, so we can only assume guests were alerted the attraction had opened and quickly made their way over.

Poseidon’s Fury is one of the attractions temporarily closing on August 9, so we’ll be back to take in a few more shows before it’s gone.

Before we make our way over to Universal Studios Florida, let’s check in on Velocicoaster. We can see more framework being lowered to be added around the cage-like structure on the back of the show building. We can also see support beams inside the frame, and there are new support beams near where the track currently dead ends. It’s possible this portion of the track will make its way through this new addition on the side, so we’ll be watching and waiting to see what happens next.

We found out just how popular those magnet and button sets are once we arrived at Universal Studios Florida later in the day. Outside the UOAP Lounge, the line of guests waiting to pick up their button and magnet wrapped all the way down to the Hello Kitty Shop. We’re glad we got ours earlier.

As we continued to make our way around the park, we noticed some banners had been rolled up and secured with zip ties around the park. This is the start of preparations for the Tropical Storm Isaias.

We know that some attractions will be closing temporarily on August 9, so we decided to take the time to see A Day in the Park with Barney. The show celebrated 25 years at Universal Studios on July 11, so it is sad to see it close, even if temporarily.
